Katia Cavigelli
Communications Officer
Katia Cavigelli is an international peace and security professional
with over six years of experience working across policy analysis,
peacebuilding program implementation, and interagency coordination.
Her work focuses on translating complex field realities and
stakeholder dynamics into structured programs and relationships that
advance stability in fragile and conflict-affected environments.
Most recently, Katia served at the United States Institute of Peace,
where she held roles of progressive responsibility supporting
peacebuilding initiatives across West and East Africa. In that role,
she was a lead facilitator for high-profile USIP engagements,
including regional workshops in Senegal and Niger and an
ambassador-level engagement in Nairobi, Kenya. She also built and
maintained relationships across governments, multilateral
organizations, and civil society partners operating in complex
environments.
She currently holds a concurrent role at an association of
counter-corrosive materials protection professionals, where she
organizes global conferences and provides strategic support.
Katia serves as IWI’s Communications Officer. She lives in Washington,
D.C. with her two cats, Charlotte and Joy.
