Nicholas Rivers

Deputy Director

Nick is the Deputy Director of Engagements at the Irregular Warfare Initiative, where he supports the team’s work convening practitioners, scholars, and policymakers on all things irregular warfare. He is a BSL-3 virologist with nearly five years in high-containment laboratories, working on pandemic response and biological programs delivered under federal government contracts. He brings that operational perspective to IWI’s work on biodefense and biological risk. His interests focus on how biological threats are assessed and what they mean for national security decisions.
