Dr. Wahid Gulrani is a political sociologist specializing in Afghanistan, migration, Irregular Warfare, and Human Rights. He is currently engaged in research and teaching at The George Washington University and Georgetown University. Dr. Gulrani previously served as a scholar at George Mason University’s Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution. He currently serves as a Non-Resident Fellow at the Irregular Warfare Initiative and as a Research Fellow at the MESA Global Academy.

His research examines the social and political consequences of conflict, state collapse, authoritarian rule, migration, and displacement, with particular attention to Afghanistan and refugee communities. His work bridges academic research, public policy, and diaspora engagement through scholarly publications, public writing, and community-based initiatives.

Dr. Gulrani’s work has appeared in academic and policy outlets, including the Journal of Human Rights Practice published by Oxford University Press, publications affiliated with Georgetown University, The Guardian, The Diplomat, and Fair Observer.
