The Irregular Warfare Initiative is proud to highlight that “Angle of Attack: Apache Attack Helicopters in Unmanned Skies,” by Hannah Lamb, has been featured in the March 2026 edition of the Chief of Staff of the Army’s Recommended Articles List, published by Army University Press.
Lamb’s article offers a timely assessment of the evolving role of the AH-64E Apache in an era increasingly defined by unmanned systems. Drawing on operational history, emerging technologies, and current conflicts, she argues that the future of Army Aviation lies not in replacing manned platforms, but in integrating them more effectively with unmanned capabilities. Her analysis underscores a central tension facing modern militaries: how to adapt legacy systems without prematurely discarding proven combat power.
This recognition highlights both the quality of the work and its relevance to ongoing debates about force structure, modernization, and the character of future conflict.
Hannah Lamb is an active duty Army Aviation officer and C-12V Huron and AH-64E Apache pilot. A graduate of the United States Military Academy, she brings a multidisciplinary background in civil engineering and counterterrorism, along with prior research on special operations in Ukraine and U.S. reconstruction policy in Iraq and Afghanistan.
We are proud to see her work informing senior Army leaders and contributing to the broader conversation on the future of warfare.
